Civil suit dropped against ex-Bedford deputy convicted of indecent libertiesA civil suit filed against a former Bedford County school resource officer convicted of five counts of indecent liberties with a minor was dropped Thursday, attorneys said. Lynchburg Circuit Court Judge Edwin Burnette presided over the case Thursday in Bedford County Circuit Court. He approved a motion for non-suit Thursday, according to attorneys. Bedford County School Board members and Bedford County Sheriff Michael Brown also were defendants. Lynchburg attorney Kelly Cutler, representing the victim who was a 16-year-old Liberty High School student at the time then-Sheriff’s deputy Ernest Grubbs was arrested, said she planned to re-file. “There are claims that we want to make against defendants proceeding forward on behalf of Jane Doe,” Cutler said.
