House prohibits e-cigs, OKs parking garage, growing hemp, anoints harbor sealPROVIDENCE, R.I. — Prohibiting vaping cigarette devices in public places and enclosed workplaces involved a significantly lengthy discussion during the first half of the full House session Friday. It ultimately passed, 50 to 17, and was awaiting Senate approval late Friday night. The bill by lead sponsor Rep. Teresa Tanzi, D-South Kingstown, bans the use of electronic nicotine-delivery system products, commonly known as vaping devices, containing flavors and/or nicotine, from public places and enclosed facilities within businesses. An amendment also approved excludes vaping stores and bars from the prohibition. "This is infringing on the personal rights of people, and we are doing it more and more," said Rep. Patricia Morgan, R-West Warwick. She and others also said there isn’t any "definitive" evidence that vaping is harmful, and it has helped people stop smoking.
