QUINCY -- A federal lawsuit tied to the death of a teenaged patient treated at a for-profit mental health clinic in Massachusetts is headed back to a federal appeals court in Boston, the U.S. Supreme Court decided unanimously on Thursday. The high court’s decision remanding the case to a Boston court comes in the midst of increased scrutiny by state mental health regulators of four other psychiatric facilities also owned by Arbour Health System: Pembroke Hospital, The Quincy Center, Westwood Lodge and Arbour Hospital in Jamaica Plain. All four facilities have corrected urgent safety violations uncovered in March and April during surprise inspections, but the state has kept an on-site monitor in place to watch over improvements. In the lawsuit involving Arbour’s clinic in Lawrence and its publicly traded parent company, Universal Health Services, Supreme Court justices adopted some key arguments of each side.
