CONCORD — The House sustained Gov. Maggie Hassan’s veto of six House bills Thursday failing to reach the required two-thirds majority to override for any of the bills. The House failed to override Hassan’s veto of House Bill 582, which changes the state’s concealed pistol law. Under the changes, a person who qualifies to own a pistol cannot be denied a concealed carry permit. Hassan said the current system works well and should not be changed. The House voted 150-117 to override the veto, failing to reach the two-thirds majority needed. Hassan vetoed a similar bill Thursday, Senate Bill 336, which would require law enforcement to issue a concealed carry permit if the person has a right to own a gun under federal and state law.
