SACS lifts warning status for Alabama State, restores regular accreditationThe Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has lifted a warning status placed on Alabama State University and returned it to regular accreditation without sanction, the Montgomery Advertiser reported. The SACS board of trustees voted Thursday to remove the warning status, which had been in place two years. ASU President Gwendolyn Boyd said at a press conference that the university is "vindicated." Boyd said the university has reduced its annual budget by $25 million to address some of the problems, such as rising debt costs.
