Spencer Collier prepared to testify to Bentley impeachment panel
Former Alabama Law Enforcement Secretary Spencer Collier would be a willing witness in impeachment proceedings against Gov. Robert Bentley, Collier's lawyer said Wednesday.
Collier and attorney Kenny Mendelsohn attended part of the House Judiciary Committee's first meeting to consider impeachment of the governor.
"He's not going to run and hide from anybody," Mendelsohn said. "He's going to tell the truth."
Collier could be a key witness.
Collier has sued Bentley for wrongful termination and defamation, accusing the governor of firing him because he refused to lie to the attorney general's office and filed an affidavit in the Mike Hubbard case, against Bentley's wishes.
