TUSCALOOSA (AP) — Leaders of Alabama's public university system voted today to approve tuition increases at the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The hikes amount to $300 per year for in-state students and $1,000 per year for out-of-state students at the University of Alabama. The rates are based on a 15 credit hour load per semester. The board also voted to raise tuition at UAB by $340 per year for in-state students and $888 per year for out-of-state students. The tuition hikes are expected to go into effect during the 2016-17 school year.
