A local tea party activist found himself behind bars Thursday, accused of selling oxycodone. John "J.R." Roth, 60, of Cold Spring was arrested by Highland Heights Police Thursday night and charged with felony trafficking in a controlled substance. Police allege in the arrest citation Roth sold 10 "dosage units" of oxycodone to a "cooperating witness." Those who attend local government meetings with any regularity, particularly in Campbell County, probably know Roth. Roth has often railed against government spending and was one of the plaintiffs in the 2012 lawsuit that sought to repeal the property tax that funds libraries in Campbell County.
