It may take a crisis of epic proportions to resolve the state’s budget impasse, members of a panel discussing the effects of the year-long stalemate said Monday. At a forum sponsored by the Better Government Association at the Sangamo Club in Springfield, panelists said they feel political leaders aren’t really listening to the stories about how the effects of not having a permanent state budget in place is affecting social services, health care and other services dependent on state funding. “It’s one person blaming another person,” Kathi Lee, principal at Lawrence Education Center in Springfield, said of the governor and legislators. “We’re getting no responses.” “I don’t think anyone is listening to us,” added Teresa Haley, president of the Springfield and state NAACP.
