The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approved a $35 million budget cut and a seven percent increase in tuition and fees at its Tuesday meeting. The board cited a 15.95 percent decrease in higher education funding by the state as the reason for their decision. "I have to say it is my regret to present this budget to you," Boren said before the vote. "It manages this budget crisis as much as possible without taking extreme measures." The tuition increase brings the total for Oklahoma resident students to $152.50 per credit hour, while out-of-state tuition is now $477.40 per credit hour.
