Tulsa boy to serve 25 years after pleading guilty as youthful offender in death of 2-year-oldA 14-year-old Tulsa boy is set to spend 25 years in state custody after accepting a plea deal in the death of his 2-year-old relative last June. Dinero Reddick appeared before District Judge James Caputo and entered his plea during his scheduled trial court arraignment Monday in the death of Charity Simmons, who died from her injuries on June 26, 2015, that she sustained while in his care. The state had charged Reddick with child abuse murder as an adult before agreeing on May 3 to return his case to the youthful offender system. Caputo sentenced Reddick to 45 years, with 25 years to be served in Office of Juvenile Affairs custody and 20 years suspended. If Reddick enters the adult system for any reason while under juvenile supervision, he must still serve 25 years, the judge said. He set a judicial review of Reddick’s case for Dec. 19.
