Wounded deputy who lost health insurance will get one-time payment from Deuel CountyDeuel County Deputy Michael Hutchinson, who lost his county-provided family health insurance last month, will receive a $1,500 stipend from the county. Hutchinson said he will use the money to pay for about 10 months of premiums for insurance purchased under the Affordable Care Act. “I’m not unhappy about it,’’ he said Tuesday. “They did something, which was better than nothing.’’ The one-time payment, requested by Hutchinson’s attorney, ends the wounded western Nebraska deputy’s campaign to regain the insurance coverage. The issue sparked widespread attention, including threats and abusive letters and social media commentary directed toward county officials.
