CHEYENNE – A Medicaid billing system change may be leaving some disabled therapy clients without services. Karyn Longstreet, speech pathologist and owner of Wyoming Speech and Learning Center, said Wyoming Medicaid recently began denying charges for some of her adult clients after 20 appointments. The 20-visit cap limit applies to speech, physical and occupational therapy. “What it boils down to is my severe autistic adults, my brain injury guys – I have 20 visits. How is that even fair to these guys?” Longstreet said. She said in the past, she’s been able to submit a Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy Cap Limit Waiver Request Form to Wyoming Medicaid to obtain approval for more than 20 visits, but now Wyoming Medicaid is denying those requests.
