Raimondo signs bills on lobbying, insurance for off-label drug use, teaching of HolocaustPROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Raimondo signed dozens of bills into law Thursday, including measures that tighten the state's lobbyist-reporting law and require health insurance companies to cover the use of "off-label" drugs to treat life-threatening illnesses. Hundreds of bills have been heading to the governor's desk for approval following the General Assembly's final marathon session. On Thursday, Raimondo announced that she signed 42 bills. Among them: - A bill increasing penalties up to $5,000 and revocation of a lobbying registration for three years for failure to register as a lobbyist. Lobbyists will be required to file monthly reports on their activities from January through June and quarterly reports from July through December. - A measure that makes health insurance companies cover the use of "off-label" drugs to treat life-threatening illnesses, provided the drugs are approved for some other use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
