Still feel kind of stupid because you can’t understand Iowa Democrats’ “caucus math?” Guess what — it’s not your fault. Veteran Democratic activists who serve on the Iowa Democratic Party’s caucus review panel admit they also have a hard time explaining how delegates are apportioned and awarded at Iowa’s precinct caucuses. Former Iowa Democratic Party chair Sue Dvorsky of Marion said Democrats have been struggling for 40 years to explain a process that was originally drawn up “on the back of a cocktail napkin” to deal with the issues of the 1972 election. “I don’t understand. And I’m fairly smart and I have done this a long time. I can’t explain it. I can’t explain our math,” Dvorsky said. “So it’s not a matter of being corrupt, it’s not a matter of being rigged.
