CARLSBAD — After nearly half a century of enjoying the Carlsbad Caverns and surrounding Guadalupe Mountains, caver, potter and photographer Peter Jones decided he wanted to give back.
Jones, who resides in Maine, has hand crafted around 100 mugs adorned with Carlsbad Caverns insignia that he plans to sell at the park July 1-4 .
He will also bring a potter's wheel and will spend the four days regaling visitors with tales of caving while demonstrating his art.
Jones' history with the caverns goes back to 1968, when he said he made his first trip to the area.
