Penn State football simply can't get by on $36M profit? Blue-White, last bit of PSU charity, issues $20 parking
Everyone gets a lot of promotional emails these days. They come from people doing their jobs the best way they know how, usually ordered to touch on various talking points and try to spin a desired result.
There's a lot to sift through. Not that I don't appreciate the work that goes into them. Good, hard-working and intelligent people do this work. It's just that sometimes I don't have the time for hoo-ha.
So, I almost trashed one I received from the media relations arm of Penn State football on Thursday afternoon before I even read the body. The boldface subject line was innocuous enough, begging for the circular file on a busy day:
Of course, it does. It was the sort of suspicious banality of that headline that pinged my antennae and made me keep reading. Curious, I dove directly into the body just to see what sort of "message" could possibly be topped with such an opening.
