Saying the case will soon be moot, Gov. Matt Bevin has asked the Kentucky Supreme Court to refuse Attorney General Andy Beshear's request to send the University of Louisville board of trustees lawsuit straight to the high court's justices. After a judge determined that Bevin lacked the authority to unilaterally reorganize U of L's board earlier this year, the governor appealed the ruling to the Kentucky Court of Appeals. But Beshear said the case is "of great and immediate public importance" and argued that it should be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court. In response to Beshear's motion to transfer the case to the state's high court, the Governor's Office once again criticized the attorney general's oft-repeated argument that the school's accreditation was put at risk by Bevin's actions. "All of the Attorney General's hand-wringing over accreditation is nothing more than a scare tactic," Bevin's lawyers wrote in a response filed with the court this week.
