Maryland will likely remain in a state of emergency from the weekend's snow until Tuesday morning or later, emergency management agency spokesman Ed McDonough said. The state of emergency merely allows Gov. Larry Hogan to direct the National Guard to assist with snow removal around the state, McDonough said; it doesn't prohibit residents from driving or other activities. "The reality is, for the everyday, average Marylander, it doesn't mean anything," McDonough said. McDonough added that the state is asking employers to be prudent when calling their employees into work. www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bs-md-state-of-emergency-20160125-story.html
