State looking at reducing Atlantic City police staffing, cutting payATLANTIC CITY — More work and less pay? That’s what it appears the state is proposing for city police. In an email to members obtained by the Press of Atlantic City, union President Matt Rogers recaps a meeting the union delegation had Wednesday with representatives from the state who are running the city takeover. WPG host Harry Hurley first reported the email during a conversation with Mayor Don Guardian on Thursday. Among the state’s demands are a pay cut across the board, a 15-step salary guide with pay capped at $90,000, increased health-care contributions from members and asking officers to work 12-hour shifts, according to Rogers.
