Lubbock council expected to settle on wrongful death lawsuit, pay $250,000The city of Lubbock will likely approve Thursday a $250,000 settlement agreement to end a wrongful death suit filed by the parents of a student about to attend Texas Tech. Morgan Lee of Abilene died after her vehicle collided with a Lubbock police officer’s vehicle Aug. 13, 2014 near the intersection of Clovis Highway and the frontage road of North Loop 289. The parents of 19-year-old Morgan Lee filed their lawsuit in April 2015 in the 72nd District Court, alleging Lubbock police Officer Cody Kidd acted negligently when his Lubbock police-issued Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into Lee’s 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The lawsuit states Lee was turning left onto the Loop 208 access road at the Clovis Highway intersection when Kidd, who was responding to an emergency call, drove at an unsafe speed and crashed into her vehicle, causing it to flip.
