State House committee approves investigation of Kane that could lead to impeachment proceedingsHARRISBURG — Attorney General Kathleen Kane now faces a second legislative initiative to potentially remove her from office after a House committee this afternoon approved an investigation that could lead to impeachment. The committee vote was unanimous, sending the resolution on toward consideration by the full House. Ms. Kane faces criminal charges, and a Senate committee has held hearings on how the suspension of her law license affects her ability to perform her duties. The Senate inquiry was called under a section of the state Constitution that provides for the Senate and governor to remove officials from their jobs. Impeachments, by contrast, are conducted by the House and then tried by the Senate.
