BILLINGS -- Entering his fourth year as Montana attorney general, Tim Fox filed Tuesday for a second term in office. “It’s been an honor to serve Montanans as attorney general,” Fox said. “In the last three years we have done a great deal to improve public safety. ... But there’s more work to do, and so today I’m asking Montanans for another term to do it.” Fox, a Republican, was preceded in office by Democrat Steve Bullock, the current governor of Montana. Fox has said it is his priority to strengthen and address sentencing laws in Montana during the 2013 and 2015 legislatures. A law increasing penalties for driving under the influence was passed during the 2015 Legislature, as well as 33 other priority bills during both sessions. Through the U.S. Marshals Service, local agencies have gained extra resources to maintain their violent and sexual registries.
