Tobacco money will help avoid cuts of in-home care, school busing, Missouri governor saysJEFFERSON CITY • Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens wants to use the proceeds from a recent lawsuit to reduce cuts he was planning to make in next year’s budget. In a statement issued Thursday, the Republican chief executive said a recent Missouri Supreme Court decision that will mean an estimated $50 million in additional revenue will be used to stave off planned reductions to a program serving 15,000 elderly and disabled people who receive in-home care. He also will use some of the proceeds to restore money for school busing costs that he had planned to cut. “This money makes our budget situation a bit better. It helps; it doesn’t make us whole,” Greitens said in a prepared statement.
