The state Office of Consumer Affairs suspended the business registration of a Leicester home improvement contractor who allegedly collected seven weeks of payments totaling $55,000 from a Webster resident, but came nowhere close to finishing the project. Good Ol' Boy Property Services, owned by Robert D. Smith, was also assessed a $2,000 fine by the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, the agency said Friday. Consumer affairs held a hearing on the matter Jan. 20. Mr. Smith did not attend the hearing. Kimberly Platek of Tanner Road in Webster confirmed she filed the complaint to the state. There's also a pending criminal case against Mr. Smith, with Ms. Platek the victim, in Dudley District Court.
