Rep. David Young: GOP health process was Obamacare all over again
Congressman David Young has seen this movie before — and he didn’t like it the first time.
Young, an Iowa Republican, compared the process House GOP leadership followed to replace the Affordable Care Act with the method Democrats used to enact it back in 2010.
House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the bill from the floor before it reached a vote on Friday, because it was clear it wouldn’t pass.
Young, who serves Iowa’s 3rd District, said he would have voted no. He has said he wanted to retain some popular features of Obamacare, including protection for pre-existing conditions and keeping young adults on their parents’ policies.
“I’m frustrated because we’ve seen it all before and we said we wouldn’t do it, and we did,” Young said in an interview Saturday.
