President Trump Proclaims April National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention MonthThe White House Friday afternoon issued several proclamations, including one via email that says, "President Donald J. Trump Proclaims April 2017 as National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month." It's absolutely important and vital that the President of the United States take the opportunity to draw attention to the sexual assault crimes that plague our nation, but in this case the messenger is someone who has bragged about sexually assaulting women. Will his statement make survivors of sexual assault victimized once more? Next week will mark the six month "anniversary" since The Washington Post revealed the tape of Trump talking to Access Hollywood's Billy Bush about sexually assaulting women. Then candidate Trump claimed because of his celebrity status women let him assault them: “when you’re a star, they let you do it.” In the weeks and months that followed, many women came forward to claim Donald Trump had sexually assaulted them or treated them inappropriately.
