U.S. Sen. Dan Coats is retiring and three fellow Republicans are battling for the party’s nomination. Each has his own strengths. The question for voters, though, is what separates them? If you’re a Republican, and not one of those political junkie types, you might have trouble figuring out which of the three U.S. Senate candidates to support in the May 3 GOP primary. Heck, if you’re not one of those political junkie types, you probably can’t name the three candidates. That’s understandable. It’s been a quiet race so far, overshadowed like everything else in politics by Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and the strangest race for president we have ever seen. Still, this Senate race is a big deal. A huge deal. So let me help by introducing you to the three Republican candidates (in random order, of course).
