Peter Flawn, former University of Texas president, dead at 91Peter Flawn, a research geologist who came to the University of Texas in 1949, starting a 60-year love affair with the university, has died. He was 91. His family announced that Flawn died overnight Sunday at his West Austin home. “Our family is saddened to announce the death of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Peter Flawn today,” his daughter, Tyrrell Flawn, said in a statement. Flawn served as president of UT-San Antonio from 1973 to 1977 but came to the Austin campus as its president from 1979 to 1985. He presided over UT’s first major capital campaign in the 1980s.
