Miss District of Columbia Kára McCullough crowned Miss USA 2017, but not without controversy
The District of Columbia has won back-to-back Miss USA titles, but not without controversy.
Kára McCullough, a chemist working for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, was crowned Sunday during the event that took place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
While McCullough initially impressed social media with her flowing white embroidered silk gown in the beginning of the competition, she quickly lost popularity with the internet trolls once she began answering the judges' questions.
Twitter roasted McCullough online over her answers about the American health care system and feminism.
