NASHUA, N.H. — Former President Bill Clinton today said he was happy with his wife’s tight victory over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in Iowa’s caucuses last night. “If somebody offered me this result four weeks ago, eight weeks ago, I really think I would have taken it. I was not all that surprised by what happened,” the former president said of Hillary Clinton’s .3 percent win. “In a way, the result in Iowa is good. Because now the voters will be able to say, ‘okay, we have a real choice, what are the differences between them on the issues and who is most likely to deliver the most change in the least amount of time?’ “We can’t wait here, we’ve had deadlock too long, we need to get the show on the road,” Clinton added. Clinton had led Sanders by double digits in most polls until early January, when the socialist began to surge.
