Recall effort, calls for audit follow indictment of Norfolk Treasurer Anthony Burfoot NORFOLK -- Fallout from the public corruption charges against City Treasurer Anthony Burfoot continued on two fronts this week, as a group of Norfolk residents filed paperwork seeking to recall him and some elected officials called for an audit of the Treasurer’s Office. The newly formed “Citizens Recall Committee” has started collecting signatures, but Burfoot’s lawyer raised questions about the accuracy of its petition. “We are well on the way,” said John Wesley Hill, a former Norfolk police officer and teacher-turned-community-activist who is leading the recall effort. Burfoot previously has said he will not resign from office.
