Leader asks for state investigation into explosive allegations about Sheriff Dan Staton's conductA day after news broke that a high-ranking official has accused Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton of creating a hostile work environment by making sexually charged comments about colleagues, the county's top official called for an outside investigation. County Commission Chairwoman Deborah Kafoury told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Wednesday that she takes such allegations "very seriously" -- and she's asked Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum to investigate the alleged misconduct. The allegations include one that Staton made "violent threats" toward others. The results of the investigation -- depending on what they are -- could jeopardize Staton's career. The sheriff is an elected official, but can be removed if he is found to have committed a crime or is recalled by voters. "It's really important that we find out the truth," Kafoury said.
