President Barack Obama arrived in Baton Rouge aboard Air Force One at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday in preparation for his second major address after Tuesday’s State of the Union. He was warmly greeted by Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards -- the first official meeting between the two Democrats. Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden also greeted Obama, who was joined by Congressman Cedric Richmond of New Orleans aboard Air Force One. Obama will hold a town hall discussion at McKinley High School in Baton Rouge on Thursday at which he will likely continue the themes of optimism he stressed during his final State of the Union speech. Seemingly rejecting rhetoric that has dominated Republican presidential campaigns in recent months, Obama urged Americans to be optimistic about the nation’s future.
