Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, the 74-year-old self-described democratic socialist, won the New Hampshire primary in convincing fashion on Tuesday, dealing a setback to the candidacy of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Sanders entered the gym at Concord High School for his victory speech around 9:30 p.m., with supporters chanting, “We don’t need no super PAC; Bernie Sanders has our back.” “Together we have sent a message that will echo from Wall Street to Washington and from Maine to California,” he said, repeating the themes of his campaign. “The government of our great country belongs to all of the people and not just a handful of wealthy campaign contributors and their super PACs.” Clinton conceded the race soon after polls closed at 8 p.m., even though only 27 of 300 precincts had reported at that time. As the race started leaning toward Sanders in the weeks leading up to the primary, the Clinton camp sought to dampen expectations for a win in New Hampshire.
