Springfield’s first medical marijuana dispensary will open for business Feb. 18 — not Feb. 15, as originally announced. Insufficient time to train staff members prompted HCI Alternatives to delay the opening date, said Jay Cook, the Effingham-based company’s director of education and community outreach. The dispensary, at 628 E. Adams St. in downtown Springfield, will be open from noon to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, Cook said. Medical marijuana will be sold only to people presenting cards that identify them as patients in Illinois’ medical marijuana pilot program.
