ALBANY - A security guard at a Manhattan psychiatric center led state employees in overtime last year, raking in nearly $172,000 in overtime alone. Overall, overtime at state agencies grew 8.3 percent between 2014 and 2015, an increase of $55 million, to a total of $716 million in 2015, records obtained by Gannett's Albany Bureau through a Freedom of Information request showed. State Police had the largest dollar amount increase in overtime last year, up $26 million, or 63 percent — likely due in large part to the escape of two inmates from the Clinton Correctional Facility last June. Overtime in the prison system and State Police was about $1 million a day during the three-week manhunt, the Comptroller's Office estimated in August.
