Lawyer wants $2.5 million from late Richmond County commissioner's estateAn Augusta area lawyer who had himself put in charge of the affairs of a former county commissioner who lay dying in a hospital testified Monday that he is entitled to $2.5 million for three days of work. “I want what’s coming to me,” Chris Nicholson yelled Monday at the attorney representing the administrator of Harrell Tiller’s estate, Patrick Claiborne. Clairborne filed a Richmond County Superior Court petition in October on behalf of Tiller’s nephew, Frank Tiller, after Nicholson filed liens on 21 properties Harrell Tiller owned in Richmond and Columbia counties, and on unspecified bank accounts. In November, Chief Judge J. Carlisle Overstreet granted a temporary order that lifted the liens, which reportedly were stopping the administration of Tiller’s estate. Monday’s hearing was set to present any final evidence before Overstreet rules. He gave Nicholson an additional 10 days to add anything else to the court record.
