State Drug Abuse Initiative For Families Paired With Private InvestmentHARTFORD – With the White House's drug policy czar in town, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy Tuesday announced a private investor-backed strategy to assist families that have children struggling with substance abuse and provide resources to keep those children living with their parents. The program links successful results with giving investors a return for their support. The Connecticut Family Stability Pay for Success Project will use about $12.5 million in private money to provide intervention services to 500 families for the next four and a half years through the state Department of Children and Families. The families will be paired with a treatment team that will make regular home visits to help parents who are in recovery. "State governments are increasingly challenged to fund the services that could otherwise keep these children safely at home with their parents," DCF Commissioner Joette Katz said. She said Pay for Success is a "first-in-the-nation approach." Read more: www.courant.com/politics/hc-malloy-substance-abuse-program-0217-20160216-story.html
