NEW HAVEN — A Yale University student was hospitalized over the weekend with a suspected case of bacterial meningitis, school officials said in a message to students. The student was being closely monitored at Yale-New Haven Hospital, the message from Dr. Paul Genecin said. The university was working with city and state health departments to identify anyone who had close and extended contact with the student. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say bacterial meningitis can cause life-threatening infections that require immediate medical attention.
