Two special prosecutors have been appointed to lead a grand jury investigation into allegations of misconduct in a decade-old Collin County land deal that involved Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The prosecutors, Fort Worth lawyers Miles Brissette and Bob Gill, were appointed in November by state District Judge George Gallagher, who also is overseeing the criminal case involving allegations that Paxton violated state securities laws in private business deals in 2011 and 2012. The land deal investigation by a Collin County grand jury is unrelated to the securities law charges, Paxton lawyer Bill Mateja said. “We have cooperated fully with these Fort Worth attorneys and are confident that they will find no wrongdoing on the part of Paxton or anyone involved in the ultimate sale of the property,” Mateja told the American-Statesman on Friday.
