Southwest Virginia lawmakers 'cross over' bills on driving, background checks, greenwayLegislators plowed through the last of their bills Tuesday as the session’s crossover deadline loomed. Tuesday was the final day for the Senate and House of Delegates to finish work on their non-budget-related bills and get them over to the other chamber for consideration. Bills now “cross over” and start a new round of hearings and votes on the other side of the General Assembly. Bills that are advancing include proposals from Sen. David Suetterlein, R-Roanoke County, to change the threshold for reckless driving and allow candidates for local office to be identified by party on the ballot.
