A state Independence Party vice chairman was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated and other traffic charges, town police said Friday. Thomas S. Connolly, 57, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after it was determined he had a blood alcohol content of .18, which is more than twice the legal limit of .08, police said. The charge arose from an incident at 7:39 p.m. Wednesday when Connolly, a town resident was stopped on Winter Street Extension, police said. The arresting officer determined after interviewing Connolly that he was driving while intoxicated and operating with an expired registration. In addition to his party leadership role, Connolly is a State Senate employee. He is the brother of North Greenbush Town Clerk Kathryn Connolly.
