State Police: Driver In Violent Crash Was Tasered Before He DiedWEST HAVEN — A man died after an early-morning crash on I-95 that was so violent, the Jeep he was driving broke into two pieces, state police said. Thomas Lane, 37, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital after the crash, where he died, they said. He became combative during his rescue and was shot with a stun gun, police said. According to police, the crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. near the Exit 42 off ramp. Lane was driving a 2006 Jeep Commander north, in the left lane, parallel to a tractor trailer, they said. He lost control of the Jeep, striking the truck's driver's side, and rolled over, hitting a guard rail, state police said.
