ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The executive director of the Civilian Police Oversight Agency has recommended that Albuquerque police Lt. Greg Brachle be fired for shooting a fellow officer during an undercover drug bust. Edward Harness made the recommendation after reviewing police investigative reports and video from Brachle’s lapel camera, which recorded the shooting of undercover detective Jacob Grant during a drug bust in a parking lot on East Central. Brachle, the narcotics unit supervisor, “ignored readily available information, his commander’s directives, and his team’s standard operating protocols for undercover operations,” Harness wrote in his findings on the Jan. 9, 2015, shooting. “Therefore, I find the use of force in this case to be unreasonable.” Read more: www.abqjournal.com/730573/news/firing-urged-in-shooting-of-officer.html
