New Mexico has gotten its extension from the federal government to comply with the federal Real ID Act. That means current New Mexico driver’s licenses are once again good as identification to get into secure federal facilities. Gov. Susana Martinez was notified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security about the extension, which she had requested last week. That followed the Legislature’s passage of a bill to put the state into compliance with the more stringent requirements of the federal Real ID law.
