SANTA FE – The Democratic Party of New Mexico has filed a complaint alleging that state Supreme Court Justice Judith Nakamura violated judicial conduct rules in an email solicitation last month. The complaint filed by Democratic Party Chairwoman Debra Haaland was mailed late Thursday to the Judicial Standards Commission, according to the party’s executive director, Joe Kabourek. It says an email sent out Jan. 13 by the state Republican Party contained a message from Nakamura directly soliciting contributions, in violation of the Code of Judicial Conduct. Nakamura said Friday that she “did not see or authorize the letter that was sent out by the Republican Party of New Mexico, and it was not brought to my attention until this morning.
