Faced with greater restrictions to the medical marijuana trade, some Billings business owners are wondering whether they will be able to keep the doors open. On Thursday, the Montana Supreme Court upheld provisions of a 2011 bill that sought to curb what supporters of the bill — as well as some in the medical marijuana community — saw as abuses of the medical marijuana program. Among other things, the decision restricts registered providers to only three patients and triggers a state review of doctors who recommend the drug to more than 25 people. Jason Smith, co-owner of Montana Advanced Caregivers in Billings, said that he’ll be finished by early March. He said that he can’t stay in business with just three customers.
