Jarmoc appeals ruling he cheated sister out of inheritanceStephen Jarmoc, a former Enfield deputy mayor and state representative who controls his family’s extensive farm holdings in the Enfield area, is appealing a probate judge’s decision that he owes considerably more than $2 million to his late father’s estate, with half the amount to go to his sister. The appeal seeks a “trial de novo,” in which a Superior Court judge would hear evidence all over again and decide the case without deference to the findings of Probate Judge O. James Purnell III, who issued the repayment order. The chief beneficiary of Purnell’s decision would be Stephen Jarmoc’s only sibling, Laura Jarmoc, a physician practicing in Concord, New Hampshire, who has also been known as Laura Eggleston. Filed Thursday in Hartford Superior Court, the appeal expresses a different view of the capacity of Jarmoc’s late father, Edwin Jarmoc, to make business decisions in the latter years of his life than the probate judge’s decision.
