FRANKFORT, Ky. – New restrictions on abortion clinics – similar to those in a Texas law now before the U.S. Supreme Court – easily passed a state Senate committee Thursday. Senate Bill 212 passed on a 10-1 vote from the Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection Committee, with only Sen. Perry Clark, a Louisville Democrat, voting no. Clark, recalling arguments on Wednesday before the U.S. Supreme Court questioning the constitutionality of such laws, said approving such a measure in Kentucky is a mistake. "I believe this legislation is probably unconstitutional," Clark said. "If the General Assembly passes this, I predict costly litigation."
